Jamshedpur: A major fire broke out early Saturday morning at the Amul warehouse in Simuldanga along National Highway-33 under MGM police station limits, destroying large quantities of stored goods and sparking panic in the area.
Eyewitnesses said the blaze erupted in the early hours when most residents were asleep. Within minutes, thick plumes of smoke were visible up to two kilometres away, prompting locals to rush to the site as flames engulfed the facility.

Four fire tenders were immediately pressed into service, and a special rescue team from Jamshedpur was deployed due to the intensity of the fire.
According to Deepak Lohra, the warehouse owner, the one-acre facility stored substantial stocks of dairy products, packaged items, and equipment. The estimated losses are expected to run into several lakhs of rupees.
Officials suspect the fire was triggered by a short circuit, though the exact cause will be confirmed after a detailed investigation.
Firefighters were still working to completely douse the flames at the time of filing this report. Teams from the local administration and the power department also reached the site to assess damage and review safety arrangements.
No casualties have been reported so far, but authorities have advised residents to stay clear of the area until the situation is fully under control.
