Massive fire engulfs New Delhi-Darbhanga Express, passengers narrowly escape

New Delhi: Nov 15: A perilous incident unfolded in the Indian Railways network on Wednesday as a massive fire erupted in the bogies of the New Delhi-Darbhanga Express (02570). The catastrophic event occurred near Sarai Bhupat railway station, stemming from Etawah. Reports indicate that an intense blaze consumed one of the express train’s coaches, reducing it to ashes. Compounding the situation, the number of passengers on board exceeded the designated capacity, compelling many to make harrowing escapes by jumping from the train.

Swift action ensued as the station master, upon learning of the fire, promptly relayed the information to the train driver and guard using a walkie-talkie. The train was swiftly brought to a halt, and power was cut off. Passengers were successfully evacuated, preventing potential loss of life. Firefighters brought the flames under control, and fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or significant property damage.

Notably, three bogies of the New Delhi-Darbhanga Express were affected, with the S1 and S2 coaches being entirely consumed by the fire. The railway authorities have assured the public that the fire is now completely contained. The train resumed its journey after the charred coaches were detached, highlighting the resilience of emergency response efforts despite the challenging circumstances.
