Ranchi: A significant fire erupted on Tuesday night in the daily market and fruit market situated on Mahatma Gandhi Marg, also known as Main Road. The fire quickly engulfed multiple shops in the area, causing chaos among the local residents. Despite initial efforts by people to douse the flames using water from taps, buckets, and utensils, the fire continued to spread uncontrollably.
The fire department was alerted, and their personnel and vehicles promptly arrived at the scene to tackle the blaze. However, the fire’s rapid spread, possibly fueled by kerosene, presented challenges to the firefighting efforts. While some individuals speculate that a short circuit may have caused the fire, an official cause has not been confirmed.
Local police from Daily Market police station also reached the location to manage the situation. As a result of this incident, over a dozen shops have reportedly been consumed by the flames. This unfortunate event recalls a similar fire that occurred on April 21, 2019, at around 3 am, which devastated several shops in the Daily Market vegetable market.
