Jamshedpur, Oct 29: MLA Saryu Roy’s Business Affairs representative, Akash Shah has warned the district administration and Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) authorities that shopkeepers would launch a massive demonstration if they went ahead with the plans of converting the four main markets of Jamshedpur, Sakchi, Baridih, Golmuri and Bistupur into multi-storied market complexes.
On getting information about this scheme through newspapers on Friday, Akash Shah strongly opposed this decision, saying that before changing the structure of the markets in this whimsical and authoritarian manner, the JNAC and district administration authorities should have taken the traders into confidence and discussed the plans with them. Akash said, “Traders in these four main markets have been doing business on freehold land through generations and as such they should have been consulted prior to taking the decision. This is not right and this dictatorial decision will be protested by the entire traders’ community under the BJM banner.”
Akash Shah warned the JNAC and the district administration that if even if a single shop was dismantled in the market without talking to the traders, a massive agitation would be held in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office with hundreds of traders under the banner of BJM. Akash Shah has assured the traders that their livelihood will be protected and promoted under any circumstance.
