Jamshedpur: In a poignant recognition of valor, the late BSF jawan Kishan Kumar Dubey, hailing from Kitadih, will be posthumously honored with the Police Medal for Gallantry, eight years after making the ultimate sacrifice. Home Minister Amit Shah is set to present this prestigious award to Dubey’s mother, Jagmaya Devi, during the investiture ceremony at the BSF training center cum school in Hazaribagh on Friday.
The announcement of the bravery medal was conveyed through a letter from Suraj Singh, Commandant of the 119 Battalion of BSF, addressed to Kitadih resident Late Kishan’s mother. The letter urged her to attend the ceremony scheduled for November 28. Despite the delayed receipt of the letter, Jagmaya Devi embarked on her journey to Hazaribagh on Thursday.
Kishan Kumar Dubey, who lost his life on July 9, 2015, during an encounter at India-Pakistan’s Karam Post under Naugam in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, had joined the BSF on November 1, 2013. His mother, Jagmaya Devi, had persistently advocated for the recognition of her son’s bravery, corresponding with the Home Department on multiple occasions. The long-awaited acknowledgment is finally set to take place, bringing closure and honor to the memory of the brave martyr.
