Ultras ask people to boycott Lok Sabha polls
Jamshedpur : The ultras belonging to the outlawed outfit CPI-Maoist triggered IED blast at the naxal-infested West Singhbhum district in the wee hours of Friday.
A rebel squad has blown up three under-construction forest guards quarters at Kuida village under Goelkera forest range under Kolhan forest division in West Singhbhum district.
After blowing up the forest guards� quarters, the rebels have pasted posters on a tree, calling upon the people to boycott the Lok Sabha polls in the region. The rebels have also urged the people residing in the region to ensure that no government officials may enter into the forest division area.
West Singhbhum district superintendent of police, Chandan Jha confirmed about the EID blast at Goelkera forest range by a squad of CPI-Maoist squad.
” As per our probe the naxals have blown up an under-constructed forest department structure at Goelkera forest range. We have started combing operation of the area soon after getting information,” said Jha.
The SP said they have pressed CRPF personnel in the Goelkera forest range for carrying out a search operation for the rebels and their supporters, adding that as this is the election period the rebels have tried to make their presence for triggering a sense of fear among the electorate as well as the polling personal with a view to disturb the Lok Sabha elections in that region.
Divisional forest officer, Kolhan, Abhishek Bhushan had rushed to the spot where the naxals have carried out the blast, razing the three under-constructed forest guard quarters.
“Before triggering the blast, the rebels had abducted two forest guards from the Kuida village, but later the duo were released in the dawn. The rebels have not inflicted any injury to the two forest guards during their stay in their custody,” said Bhushan.
In the last few days anti insurgency operation in the West Singhbhum has been intensified following intelligence reports that suggest rebels are camping in the pockets.
The administration has increased police patrolling on the bordering areas connecting to West Bengal and has also deployed adequate number of paramilitary personnel on areas potential to rebels attack.
Meanwhile intelligence sources maintained that the naxals have once again started influencing the local residents to come to the fold of the naxalism,” said a senior intelligence officer. He said the rebels are targeting areas in Sonua, Goelkera and Porahat region of West Singhbhum.
