Former army man dies in road mishap in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Former army man and hero of the war of 1971, Hawaldar (retired) Ram Lakhan Thakur died of injuries sustained in a road mishap on Thursday, April 11 close to the bridge while returning from Mango with his granddaughter. Hawaldar Ram Lakhan Thakur was an active member of Purv Sainik Seva Parishad (PSSP) and the entire organization was shocked at the news of Thakur�s unexpected death.

According to reports Ram Lakhan Thakur was returning from Mango on his scooter along with his granddaughter when a speeding Tata Mini truck hit the two-wheeler near the bridge. Thakur fell down, his helmet was thrown off and he was dragged for quite some distance by the truck. He received grievous wounds on his head and chest that resulted in profuse bleeding from his nose and mouth. Passersby rushed him to the Tata Main Hospital for treatment.

Ram Lakhan Thakur�s son informed PSSP members Awdhesh Kumar and Vinay Yadav of the incident. Immediately, 25 members of the organization rushed to the hospital. The doctor attending on him pronounced him dead at 10:30 pm.

Ram Lakhan Thakur�s funeral rites will be performed on April 13 after his family members return from Nagpur and Delhi. Consoling the bereaved family, PSSP president Tapas Majumdar said that the organization would always stand by the family of brave Ram Lakhan Thakur. Founder general secretary of the organization Varun Kumar stated, �A member like him will always remain our source of inspiration. Even at this age, he led a disciplined and committed life. We are all saddened by his demise.�
