Jamshedpur, Nov. 23: Maoists have once again have struck development work in the state.
A group of CPI (Maoists) rebels torched four vehicles of a road construction company in Kuchai under Kuchai police station in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district on Sunday night, district superintendent of police, Inderjeet Mahatha, said today.
�Road construction work from Kuchai to Badabambo is in progress and till date 19 km of road has been build under police security, while work on another 4 km remains to be completed. In view of panchayat polls on Sunday, police was sent to other areas and taking advantage of the situation, CPI (Maoists) activists reached the spot on a motorcycle.
The extremists snatched the mobile phones from the workers and locked them inside the room. Before leaving, the Maoists set ablaze two tractors, a road roller and a water tanker,� informed Mahatha, who along with DIG (Kolhan) R K Dhan, rushed to the spot on Monday morning to investigate the incident
The SP further said, �Soon Seraikela police reached the spot, rescued the locked workers and took them to the Kuchai police station.� He said that sSecurity forces have launched a combing operation to flush out the ultras belonging to the Maharaj Pramanik-led squad.�
Mahatha assured that the road would be completed under the protection of security forces.�
