Man’s loan for wife’s education goes waste as she elopes with lover

Ranchi: In a disheartening turn of events, reminiscent of the recent case involving Uttar Pradesh’s SDM Jyoti Maurya, a similar incident has unfolded in Godda district, Jharkhand. The story revolves around a woman whose labourer husband had taken a substantial loan of approximately Rs 2.5 lakh with the hope of providing her with a nursing education, aspiring to secure a brighter future for their family. In a devastating twist, Priya Kumari, the wife, in the final year of her nursing studies, made a choice — she abandoned her husband, Tinku Kumar Yadav, betraying his trust and ran away from home with her alleged lover.

Making things worse, Priya and her lover, Dilkhush Raut, absconded from Godda, secretly marrying in a Delhi temple. She further sent her wedding photographs to Tinku through various intermediaries. The sight of these photographs shattered Tinku. He could not fathom that his wife for whom he had incurred a huge loan to fund her studies eloped with another man.

Tinku’s ordeal began in 2020 when he tied the knot with Priya. After their marriage, Priya expressed her desire to study in a nursing college. Driven by his commitment to securing a brighter future for both their family and his wife, Tinku went to great lengths, securing a substantial loan to enroll Priya at the Shakuntala Nursing College in Godda district. Furthermore, to ensure his wife’s uninterrupted pursuit of her studies, Tinku took additional steps by arranging for her accommodation and meals in a city hostel. He had worked hard as a delivery boy to secure the loan and ensure that his wife had the opportunity to study ANM nursing.

Despite his tireless efforts, Tinku found himself not only betrayed but also on the hook for a significant financial burden. In relation to this incident, Tinku recounted the turn of events. On September 19, he reported his wife that his wife went missing from their home. In response, he lodged a complaint at the Nagar police station in Godda district. Following the complaint filed by Tinku, the police are assuring that they will take appropriate action.
