Jamshedpur, May 28: The Outreach Department of Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) commemorated the International Day of Action for Women’s Health with a dedicated awareness and outreach initiative under the global theme “Accelerate Action.” The program was aimed at empowering women with essential health information and nutritional support, focusing on preventive care and long-term wellness.
The event featured awareness sessions on Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, and Menstrual Hygiene, tailored to address the specific health concerns faced by women in the workforce, particularly support and security staff. The session was conducted by Dr. Ojasvi Shanker (Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) highlighting the importance of early detection, regular screening, and hygiene practices in preventing serious health conditions.

In a significant step to address nutritional deficiencies, Iron Folic Acid (IFA) tablets and Calcium supplements were distributed to all attendees. These essential micronutrients play a critical role in women’s health—IFA helps prevent anaemia, a condition highly prevalent among working women, while Calcium is vital for maintaining bone health, especially in women approaching or undergoing menopause.
The program reached around 50 female beneficiaries who actively participated in the interactive sessions and received personalized health guidance.
Manipal Tata Medical College remains committed to community-centred healthcare and continues to champion women’s health through awareness, outreach, and action.
