Manipal Tata Medical College Jamshedpur celebrates Yoga Day

Jamshedpur, June 21: Manipal Tata Medical College Jamshedpur (MTMCJ), a leading institution in medical education and research, celebrated International Yoga Day on Wednesday. The event aimed to promote the numerous physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga for individuals of all ages.

International Yoga Day has been recognised globally since its inception in 2015, it emphasizes the importance of yoga promoting holistic well-being and fostering harmony between mind and body. Manipal Tata Medical College Jamshedpur, in line with this vision, organized an event consisting of various yoga activities and educational sessions.

The festivities commence early in the morning with an open-air yoga session conducted by certified yoga instructor Dr. Dinesh Chandra Arora, Assistant Professor, Yoga and Co-Ordinator Khelo India (Yoga) IIT BHU, Varanasi. Prof. Poonam Choudary facilitated the programme as the Chief Guest. More than 200 students, faculty, and staff actively participated in the yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation sessions, guided by experienced practitioners over 3 days in morning and evening sessions. The serene environment of the college campus provided an ideal setting for participants to connect with their inner selves and experience the calming effects of yoga.

To enhance awareness and understanding yoga, the event also included informative sessions by renowned yoga experts, who shared insights on the philosophy, benefits in our everyday lives, and techniques of yoga practice. These sessions aimed to equip attendees with valuable knowledge about integrating yoga into their daily routines and harnessing its positive effects on physical and mental health.

Dr. Harish Chander Bandhu Associate Dean (Clinical) of Manipal Tata Medical College Jamshedpur expressed his gratitude towards all the participants and organizers for their enthusiastic involvement in the International Yoga Day celebrations. He stated, “Yoga is a powerful tool that can enhance overall well-being and promote a healthy lifestyle.  At MTMC, we believe in nurturing our students and staff not only as healthcare professionals but also as individuals who prioritize self-care. International Yoga Day provides an excellent opportunity for us to come together and embrace the practice of yoga, which has been a cornerstone of Indian culture for centuries.”
