Manipal Tata Medical College and DIET organize POCSO workshop for school teachers in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 20: A one-day workshop on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was organized by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Jamshedpur, in collaboration with the Outreach Department of Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC). The workshop aimed to equip school teachers with essential knowledge about child protection laws and their role in safeguarding students from abuse and exploitation.

The session was attended by more than 200 teachers from various government schools across the district and 5 staff from Manipal Tata Medical College. Experts from DIET, along with legal professionals and child welfare specialists, facilitated the discussions. The event was also graced by DEO and DSE, East Singhbhum.

The workshop covered key aspects of the POCSO Act, including early identification of abuse, legal provisions, and mechanisms for reporting and redressal. Interactive sessions and case studies were also conducted to enhance practical understanding among participants.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing participants to clarify doubts and discuss real-life scenarios related to child safety. Teachers expressed their appreciation for the initiative and requested regular training programs to stay updated on child protection laws and practices.

It is worthwhile noting that the attending school teachers were also informed about the courses being currently run by Allied Health Sciences at Manipal Tata Medical College by Head, Outreach and Information Brochure of the same was distributed among them by the Outreach Team in line to ensure last mile information about these courses.
