Mango women meet DC for BPL card and pension

Jamshedpur: A large number of women from various localities of Mango comprising a majority of widows met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal on Tuesday demanding issuance of BPL cards and disbursement of pension pending for the last several months.

The women alleged that the district administration authorities concerned had forced them to run from pillar to post to get their rightful. They said the local administration officials had asked them to go to the DC to get their BPL cards and pension. The DC, they alleged, had earlier advised them to go to the local authorities concerned.

When the harassed beneficiaries went back to the local officials, they were reportedly asked again to go to the DC. Fed up by the repeated procrastination on part of the block officials, the women finally decided to approach the DC and register protest. They handed over a memorandum to the DC and demanded measures to make the process simple and provide them their BPL cards and pension.

One of the women said she had long been visiting the government offices concerned to get her BPL card and widow pension. The authorities asked her to go to the DC office instead to get the BPL card and pending pension.
There are around 200 widows from Mango who have alleged that the administration has not given them the BPL cards and pensions. They said the DC should intervene and make sure they get their dues without any further delay.
