Jamshedpur: Unidentified criminals stole cash worth Rs 2.60 lakh from a car, one Hyundai i20, parked in Sonari on Tuesday. The owner of the car, Vishal Singh, a resident of S Type, Adityapur, near Q Zone, Sonari, has lodged an FIR in this connection.
Sources said the incident happened in the morning when the victim, after withdrawing cash from the Bistupur branch of HDFC Bank, went to Sonari and parked his car in Q Zone. Singh had kept the cash in the car itself.
When after sometime, he returned to his car, he found the left hand side window of the car smashed and cash gone. He lodged a complaint with the Sonari police station later after failing to get whiff of the cash and thieves.
Police verified the incident by visiting the bank and found out that the victim had withdrawn the amount from the Sonari branch. They said the victim had shown recklessness in handling the cash by leaving it in the car. They said they were trying to reach the culprits by searching for eyewitnesses of the incident.
Cops said local thieves could have committed the crime. They said they were trying to find out reason for leaving so much cash in the car. The victim reportedly said he had some job to be done for which he had to leave the cash in the vehicle itself.
