Jamshedpur: A delegation comprising members of the city-based Mango Welfare Mission led by Rajesh Srivastava and Dr Afroz Shakeel met East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar on Tuesday demanding revocation of hike in holding tax announced recently by the Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC).
In the memorandum handed over to the DC, the outfit members said the MNAC had introduced a steep hike in the holding tax rate for the residents of Mango. Since majority of the residents belong to lower-income groups, the new rate is exorbitant, said the outfit members.
Srivastava alleged that the MNAC had failed to improve civic amenities in Mango as a result of which the residents were reeling under water and power crisis besides various other issues such as poor drainage and dilapidated roads. He said the MNAC should first enhance the facilities for the residents and then go ahead with the hike plan.
