Jamshedpur: The construction of the bridge-cum-flyover over the Subarnarekha River is moving at a rapid pace, promising much-needed relief from traffic congestion for the residents of Mango. The flyover, stretching from near Blue Bells School on Dimna Road to the opposite bank of the river, has now taken a visible shape.
According to a representative for the contractor, Dinesh R. Agarwal, the original plan aimed to complete the river bridge by March 2026. However, the team has shifted its focus to prioritize the Mango Chowk flyover section.
Two-Lane and Four-Lane Infrastructure The project includes a four-lane flyover originating from Dimna Road and a two-lane section from Azadnagar Road. Both elevated routes will converge at the Mango roundabout. Because of this convergence, workers are prioritizing the sections flanking the Mango roundabout before finalizing the river bridge. On Tuesday night, crews successfully installed slabs onto the pillars at the Mango roundabout.
The contractor’s representative confirmed that while the river pillars are finished, day-and-night construction continues near the Workers’ Flat area. Officials expect to complete the entire Mango Flyover project by July 2026. Notably, all 14 pillars for the section extending from Mango Chowk toward Pardih on New Purulia Road are now complete.
57 Pillars to Support the Massive Structure The entire bridge and flyover structure will rest on a total of 57 pillars, nearly all of which are now finished. The ₹252-crore Mango Flyover features a four-lane design on Dimna Road to accommodate two-way traffic.
In contrast, the New Purulia Road section is currently a two-lane flyover intended for one-way traffic. However, local authorities may permit two-way movement based on future requirements. Once operational, the flyover will provide long-awaited relief to Mango residents who have battled chronic traffic jams for years.
