Pet Registration Becomes Mandatory in Jamshedpur

JNAC Releases Official Forms

Jamshedpur: Owning a pet cat or dog without official registration is set to become a costly affair for city residents. The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has officially released the “Pet Registration Form,” making it mandatory for residents to register their pets in government records. Pet owners who fail to comply may soon face legal action or heavy fines.

Registration Process and Required Documents

The JNAC Veterinary Department has kept the registration process straightforward but emphasizes strict adherence to safety standards. To register, owners must submit an application along with a ₹100 fee and the following documents:

  • Two passport-sized photographs of the pet.

  • An updated vaccination card.

  • The owner’s Aadhaar card.

  • Valid proof of residence.

Focus on Vaccination and Sterilization

The new form requires owners to clearly state the pet’s sterilization status and the date of its last Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV). JNAC has mandated annual Anti-Rabies vaccinations, and the form includes a specific column for the “Next Vaccination Date” to maintain a centralized administrative record.

Owners Held Liable for Pet Attacks

The new regulations strictly define the responsibilities of pet owners. According to the guidelines, registration with the local urban body is compulsory for all domestic dogs and cats. If a pet injures a person or causes property damage, the owner will be held directly responsible and must bear the full cost of the victim’s medical treatment.
