Man shot at in Olidih, cops suspect gangwar

Jamshedpur: Assailants shot at one Prasanjeet Mandal at Deshbandhu Line, Olidih, Wednesday midnight.

The victim was taken to Tata Main Hospital where his condition was reportedly critical.

Cops said the victim sustained bullet injury in his thigh and waist. Mandal is reportedly a member of Ganesh Singh gang, they said.

Police officials suspect the incident to be the result of rivalry between Ganesh Singh gang and Guddu Pandey gang.

Mandal is the cousin of Rajeev Mandal, who was arrested and jailed yesterday for his alleged role in the conspiracy to attack Guddu Pandey gang members. Police had recovered arms and arrested three more persons in connection with a recent shoot out incident at Mango.

Police said the victim was standing outside his house when two youths approached him and opened fire on him. The assailants escaped through an alley besides Darbhanga Store situated on Dimna Road.

Mandal fell on the road after being shot by the assailants. He was taken to hospital by local residents and police.

Police said this is the fourth such incident of gangwar between Ganesh Singh and Guddu Pandey gangs. It all started with firing on Sintu Singh, member of Guddu Pandey gang two weeks ago.

In retaliation, Prashant, brother of Ganesh Singh, was shot near Niranjan Complex gate. The incident was followed by twin incidents of firing on Deepak and Nanhe Singh of Guddu Pandey gang in Teachers’ Colony and Moon City Road respectively.

Cops also suspect the role of Amarnath gang in the incident.
