Ghatshila, Feb 2: A 54-year old person Dilip Bhakat drowned in the government pond at Barajhuri in Ghatshila on Tuesday.
The body was recovered by local villagers and sent to Ghatshila subdivisional hospital wherein doctors declared it as brought dead.
According to Ashwini Bhakat, brother of the deceased person, his brother had gone to take bath in the pond as usual on Tuesday morning and accidentally dashed against a stone and fell inside the pond and probably staying in the cold water for a long duration might have caused his death.
Villagers claim that there is no eye witness of the incident and they are treating it as suspicious and the body has been sent for postmortem and the autopsy would make it clear if it was accidental death or something else.
No written complaint has been received in the Ghatshila police station in this connection.
