Ranchi, July 3: Chief Minister Champai Soren implemented several significant initiatives during his five-month tenure. Here are some of the key decisions:
Caste Census: CM Champai Soren approved a proposal for a caste survey in Jharkhand, similar to Bihar. This decision is seen as a strategic move ahead of the assembly elections. Although Hemant Soren had given his consent before his incarceration, a final decision has not been taken in the cabinet meeting until now.

Electricity Bill Waiver: Champai Soren announced the waiver of up to 200 units of electricity per month. The proposal, passed by the cabinet, will benefit 41,44,634 consumers starting from the August electricity bill.
Chief Minister Abua Health Security Scheme: This scheme was launched for those not covered under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, benefiting approximately 33 lakh people who are ration card holders. A resolution letter has been issued by the Health Secretary in this regard.
Chief Minister Sister-Daughter May-Kui Incentive Scheme: Under this initiative, women aged 21 to 50 years will receive an assistance amount of one thousand rupees, which will be transferred directly to their bank accounts. The scheme has received cabinet approval.
Chief Minister Hospital Operation Scheme: Recently approved, this scheme allocates Rs 75 lakh to Sadar Hospital, Rs 50 lakh to Sub-Divisional Hospitals, Rs 10 lakh to Referral Hospitals, Rs 5 lakh to Primary Health Centers, and Rs 2 lakh to Health Centers annually.
Abua Housing Scheme: Launched a few months ago, this scheme aims to provide three-room housing to 4.5 lakh beneficiaries. Many have already received the second installment amount. This scheme was initially approved during Hemant Soren’s tenure.
CM Champai Soren’s tenure has been marked by significant policy decisions aimed at improving the lives of Jharkhand’s residents.
