Maithili students can sit in UPSC exam: Bablu Jha

Mithila Cultural Council election on April 24

Jamshedpur, April 20: The Mithila Cultural Council election will be held on Sunday, April 24. A total of 67 persons have filed their nomination papers for 35 posts and the 35 elected executives will elect the president and general secretary for the Mithila Cultural Council.

Youth social worker Surendra Jha alias Bablu Jha who is also the Congress District Vice President is a Baridih resident and is contesting the for the post of executive of the Council. Jha said that his father, PN Jha was a known social activist and had been actively participating in matters of Mithila culture and its propagation. Bablu stated that he had put up his papers for an executive’s post of Mithila Cultural Council with the intent of taking his father’s association forward.

 He stated that his primary objective was to create awareness of Maithili language and culture among the Maithili community especially among new generation children so that the language and culture could be carried forward through generations. He said, “If I can get even one child to study Maithili language and answer his UPSC exam papers in the language, I would feel elated.  Apart from this, Maithili is taught in some Jamshedpur colleges. I will visit Mithila communities and motivate the youth to enroll in such colleges. I have made up my mind to help financially hit students who desire to take up studies in Maithili language by providing the cost of their studies up to Intermediate level.”

Responding to a question, Bablu Jha stated that this nature of social service could be pursued even without affiliation to any institution. He also stated, “I will be able to see and understand more and more people of the society closely so that more beneficial work could be performed for the society.” ​​Surendra Jha alias Bablu Jha, is contesting for an executive member of the Mithila Cultural Council for the first time. He is a resident of Rajnagar in Madhubani of Bihar, and was currently staying with his father, the soft spoken PN Jha at Baridih. It may be mentioned that PN Jha has been associated with Mithila Cultural Council for nearly 48 years. Bablu Jha, had followed in the footsteps of his father and has been engaged in several social activities and his dedication came to the fore during the COVID period. He provided rations to many families and paid school fees of many children.
