Jamshedpur: Members of Jharkhand Mahila Mazdoor Union burnt the effigy of Union Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda at Khudiram Bose Chowk, Mango, on Sunday to protest the hike in railway passenger and goods fare proposed in the Union Rail Budget.
Raising slogans against the government, the protestors said the decision taken by the Rail Ministry was going to have a huge and adverse impact on the lives of the people. They said the hike was bound to fuel further inflation as the prices of various commodities and services were sure to rise.
The protestors further said the government should rollback the hard decisions taken in the Budget and provide relief to the people already reeling under inflation.
