Mahashtami celebrated with fervour at Beldih Kali bari

Jamshedpur, April 7: Devotees offered pushpanjali to Goddess Durga on the occasion of Basanti-Durga Puja Maha Ashtami at Jamshedpur�s Kali Bari Ashram in Beldih on Monday.

The Bhartiya Yugvasisth Brahmanand Sangh�s celebrations which kicked off on Saturday will continue till Tuesday before the immersion of the idol on Wednesday, April 9.

On Ashtami (April 7) the Sangh had organized Mahaashtami vihip Puja of Basanti durga devi, the day also witnessed Annapurna and Ashoka Astami puja followed by colourful cultural program in the evening and a maha bhog in the afternoon. Durgotsav is celebrated twice every year in the months of Ashwin and Chaitra. The current one is the Chaitra Durga Puja.

�The samiti has been organising the puja for the last several years,� said member of the Sangh.

On Navami (April 8), there will be a havan, Navami vihip puja followed by cultural program again. The day of Ramnavami.

The programme will culminate on Wednesday, April 9, followed by immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga.

�The samiti would like to invite all Jamshedpurians to be a part of the celebrations on this auspicious occasion,� a sangh member said.
