Mage festival celebrated in Gua

Gua, Feb. 15: Tribals on Monday celebrated Mage festival in naxal affected Gangda village in ​​Gua.

Mage Parab is celebrated in the beginning of Magh i.e. during January-February. The central idea behind the celebration of the festival is to offer new pulse and other cereals to the ancestors. No fixed dates are appointed for the celebration of the festival as different villages observe the festival on different dates. During this period the three days fast, Monday, Wednesday and Friday are taken into account.

Deori Juria Champia of the village worshiped according to the customs and sacrificed chicken and prayed for welfare and peace of the villagers. On the occasion villagers also prayed to eradicate corona virus infection.

During the celebration children, elderly, young men and women of the village danced to the beat of the drum wearing new costumes. 

Everyone congratulated each other on the occasion.  Munda Birsa Soren, Chudi Soren, Gullian Champia, Joria Champia and others were present.
