Lynching incidents: CM orders suspension of three administrative officials

Jamshedpur, June 28 : Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday ordered for suspension and departmental action against three administrative officials in the lynching incidents at Rajnagar (Seraikela-Kharsawan) and Nagadih (Bagbera, East Singhbhum) on May 18.

In a press release issued by the state public relations department , the chief minister has directed for suspension and departmental action against then SDO Dhalbhum Manoj Kumar Ranjan (for Nagadih incident) and BDO Rajnagar, Santosh Kumar Prajapati and then circle officer Rajnagar Rajeev Neeraj (for Rajnagar incident).

Four cattle traders were lynched at different villages in Rajnagar block of Seraikela-Kharsawan district while three youths (including two brothers Gautam and Vikas Verma) were lynched at Nagadih in Bagbera and an elderly (76 year old) grandmother of the two lynched brothers, Ramsakhi Devi was critically injured. Later, on June 19, Ramsakhi Devi succumbed to her injuries at Tata Main Hospital.

Acting on the recommendations by the two-member probe committee (Kolhan commissioner Pradeep Kumar and then DIG (currently Bokaro DIG) Kolhan Prabhat Kumar), the government had suspended Seraikela-Kharsawan DC Ramesh Gorakh Gholap and SP Rakesh Bansal on June 9 and later on June 10 suspended Rajnagar circle officer Rajeev Neeraj, Kowali police station OC K. N Ojha, Mango OC Budhram Oraon and Azadnagar OC Jitender Thakur.
