Loyola’s Adiba scores 95 per cent in ISC, wants to be an IAS officer

Jamshedpur: Adiba Khan of Loyola School, who scored 95 per cent in ISC (Class XII) exam to secure second joint topper in Arts, wants to pursue higher education from a reputed college and become an IAS officer. She is also appearing in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022.

“ I am really happy with my performance and want to do English honours from a reputed college and appear for UPSC Civil Services exams. I have a dream to serve society. I want to address issues like environment degradation and gender disparity prevalent in society. I think I can resolve these issues only after joining the civil services,” said Adiba.

Her father, MD Arman Khan is an employee at Tata Steel while mother Talat Jahan is a homemaker. They have constantly supported her throughout. With her hard work and determination she has scored 97 in English, 97 in Political Science, 94 in History, and 92 in Economics.

“ I attribute my performance to my parents as well as my teachers and especially our principal Father Pius Fernandes,  who is extremely cooperative,” said an elated Adiba.

When questioned about the use of social media, she said that she was never addicted to social media. Social media has become a prevalent platform for learning since the lockdown, providing easier access to information. But, the screen time of a student must be limited, she noted.

Consistent hard work and a focused approach kept Adiba free of tension during the examination. These two factors helped her emerge as  one of the toppers.

“I worked for 4-5 hours round the year and revised my course regularly. I was expecting good marks but this is definitely beyond my expectations. It’s not the number of hours which matters, but the knowledge gained through the process,” she said.

She further added: “I think hard work is the only mantra of success. Throughout my schooling I have worked hard with sincerity, this is the only reason for my success. It is not only about scoring high marks but I am happy that I have made my parents proud,,” noted Adiba.

She said that there is no room for doubt if you have to score well, especially if your subject is arts. So, never hesitate to question when in doubt,” she says, an aspiring IAS officer.
