Jamshedpur, August 8: The adage, ‘Winners never quit and quitters never win’ proved true for the students of Loyola School Telco, who participated in the 4th CICSE Regional Boxing Championship on August 8, 2024, at Kerala Public School, Mango. Following the school’s recent affiliation with CICSE, New Delhi, these young athletes gave the school another causew to celebrate.
Loyola School’s Shambhavi Mishra, competing in the U14 category with 50KG +FC, Shuchi Shaily Balmuchu in the U17 category with 52-54 KG, and Hiranya Nidhi in the 66-70 KG category, secured Gold medals, while Sanaa Malakar, competing in the U17 category with 48-50 KG, brought home a Silver medal. The school also clinched the U14 Runner-Up trophy in their first-ever CICSE tournament.
The school management, along with the Principal and Administrator, expressed immense joy and pride in the students’ achievements. They also extended their congratulations to the coach, Kartik Mahato. This victory has significantly elevated the school’s reputation in sports, inspiring students to aim for more accolades in various weight categories at the national level.
A total of 16 schools participated in this championship, which was judged by officials from the Jharkhand Boxing Association. The event’s chief guest was Firoz Khan, an international coach and handball player, while the medals and trophies were presented by the Principal of KPS Mango, Rupa Ghosh, and Vice Principal, Usha Raj Shekharan.
