Jamshedpur celebrates Feast of St. Ignatius

Jamshedpur, July 30: Loyola School marked the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola with a day filled with reverence, joy, and remarkable milestones — most notably, the inauguration of India’s first high-tech Skills Lab (Protean Resource Center). Designed to promote hands-on learning and practical education, the lab aims to equip students with future-ready skills through advanced technology and innovative resources.

The event, celebrating the founder of the Society of Jesus, was attended by Chief Guest K.V. Vincent, Guest of Honour Colonel Earnest Paul, Fr. K.M. Joseph (Rector), Fr. Vinod Fernandes (Principal), Fr. Cyril Tigga, Fr. Victor Misquith, and Vice-Principals Jayanthi Sheshadri and Vineeta Ekka.

Celebrations began with a soulful prayer dance, followed by a moving video tribute to St. Ignatius. Students presented musical performances, a heartfelt poem, and a vibrant folk dance showcasing Jesuit work among tribal communities. An Ignatian Quiz further engaged students, testing their knowledge of Jesuit values and heritage.

The day also featured a meaningful act of service through a Blood Donation Camp organized by the Loyola Alumni Association, where Fr. Vinod Fernandes led by example as the first donor.

Adding to the occasion’s significance, the school celebrated Fr. K.M. Joseph’s Silver Jubilee of Priesthood, honouring his 25 years of devoted service. The school magazine, The Loyolean, was officially released, reflecting student creativity, insight, and accomplishments.

The day concluded with a festive lunch hosted by the Jesuit fathers for the teachers, staff, and support staff, underlining the Loyola community’s spirit of gratitude and unity.
