Loyola School crowned overall champions at DBMUN conference

Jamshedpur: D.A.V. Public School, Bistupur organized Model United Nation concluding session on Saturday in the school premises. Model United Nations, also known as MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN Committees.

Loyola School was crowned the overall champion of DBMUN.

Pragya Singh, Principal, D.A.V. Public School, Bistupur praised the participants and the students for their active participation and gave away the prizes to the winners under different categories.

Best Delegate of UNSC committee was Agnit Ghosh, Lok Sabha Aditya Jha, UNHRC Pragya Sahay. Best dressed delegate UNSC committee was Sourav Sharma, of Lok Sabha Anirban Maity, UNHRC Kavya Adesara, High Commendation UNSC were Onkar Mishra and Aditya Raj, Lok Sabha- Vaibhav Pratap Singh and Aishani Mishra, UNHRC- Piya Garg and Moksit Bhawani.

Best crisis manager UNSC was Rachna Shree, Lok Sabha- Sourav Kumar, UNHRC- Aaron George.

Special mention at UNSC was Ashita Khandewal, Lok Sabha- Harshit Chhabra and UNHRC- Sambhavi Shree. Best photographer award was won by Asparsh Mishra and Sharin Shakeel. Best Journalist was Sulagna Banerjee and Mugdha Sahu.

The two-day DBMUN concluded with the Press conference of the Executive Board and the International Press Members followed by socials and delegates dinner. The delegates so far arguing were now all amiable and much to their delight tapping their foot to popular Hindi and English jazz. This event was a huge success.

Meanwhile, United Nation Security Council is undoubtedly the most important committee in MUN. The agenda I’m UNSC this year is DBMUN 2018 was “Reform of the United Nations Security Council with special emphasis on the G4 Nations.”

Earlier, the Lok Sabha session commenced with the discussion on the agenda “Provision of a Uniform Civil Code in the Indian Constitution thereby questioning personal religious laws. The Members of the Parliament were busy playing the blame game and pointing out the number of scams on each of their part.

It was, hence, a brain-storming session on various issues ranging from the achievements to the failures of Government. The committee finally reached to the following resolutions : � Polygamy, irrespective of faith and belief, is punishable under the UCC. � Personal law courts will be stopped from functioning, and instead a committee will be formed. � Inheritance Rights must be given to all women irrespective of religion, caste, creed or community. � Article 370 should be abolished.

The United Nations Human Rights Council was guided by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, reaffirming its commitment to the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.
