Jamshdpur: Tarapore School, in association with XLRI has instituted the Young Leaders Fellowship Progarmme for students of class X to XII of all schools in Jamshedpur.
On the 1st of July, the 16 fellows of the programme attended an orientation at Tarapore School. This was planned to give them an idea of what the next four months were going to entail. The morning began with the principal Amy H. Billimoria�s address and a song that was sung by all participants as they passed the light of their candles signifying the spread of knowledge.
The participants then received kits from the Chairman with a fellowship diary, t-shirts, pen drives and other things that would be required over the course of the programme.
The students were greeted by the Tarapore Schools Chairman, Bailey Bodhanwala, Fr. Nelson D�Silva- the Associate Dean of student affairs and administration, XLRI and Dr. Pingali Venugopal, Chairperson, International Relations.
The gathering was addressed by the Chairman who spoke about the objectives of the programme which is to learn to share and help the underprivileged which would give them more satisfaction than any report card.
Fr. Nelson D�Silva spoke next who introduced the students to the four cardinal virtues and their relevance in their lives.
Thereafter vice-principal, Ishita Dey familiarized the students with the expectations of them as fellows and then announced the theme for the year � Rural Education. The students will now work on this theme for the next four months trying to identify an existing problem and implement a solution.
Debdoot Mohanty, Head CSR, Tata Steel addressed the students and introduced the students to the existing problems and efforts taken to overcome them.
The administrator, Tina Bodhanwala Sood then explained the structure of the programme which is based on the design thinking process and what the students would be doing over the course of four months.
At the end, the students of the SIGMA team of XLRI, who will be working closely with these students, planned an ice breaker event for the them to get to know each other.
The fellows include- Aditya Dhanraj from Loyola School, Aditya Shankar from Carmel Junior College, Adrija Mondal Tarapore School, Adrija Paul Carmel Junior College, Ashna Reyaz Sacred Heart Convent School, Akshit Kumar SDSM School for Excellence, Debarati Paul, Diya Chakravarty and GS Vishnu from Little Flower School, Himpriya from Gulmohar High School, Lekhani Raja JH Tarapore School, Neha Kumari Jusco School (south park), Priyanshu Shikha from Kerala Samajam Model School, Rupika Sinha Carmel Junior College, Shashank Dharmarajan DBMS English School and Vedika Chandra Gulmohar High School.
