Loyola School crowned ‘CROSS – FIRE’ Debate Competition winner

Jamshedpur, May 4: Loyola School came out the winners of Cross – Fire Multi-Format Inter School
English Debate Competition 2015 organised by DAV Bistupur in association with The Neotia University.

Twelve reputed city schools namely – Vidya Bharti Chinmaya, Loyola, DAV NIT, Carmel Junior College, DAV Bistupur, J.H. Tarapore, Valley View, Motilal Nehru Public School, Dayanand Public School, Kerala Samajam Model School, Narbheram and Rajendra Vidyalaya participated in the battle of words in this Multi Format Debate.

The preliminary round was a combination of extempore and turncoat debate involving all the schools. The topic for the first six teams was “Commercialization of Teaching and Journalism”.

The remaining teams were given the topic-“As a country we have failed to understand North East”.

The four schools that qualified for the semi-finals were Loyola, Kerala Samajam Model School, Rajendra Vidyalaya and DAV Public School, Bistupur.

The topics for the semi final round were “We are Independent but not free” and “India’s Biggest Problem is Brand Conscious Youth.” For the prestigious Final round DAV Bistupur and Loyola made headway with the
topic “We remember Gandhiji only in symbols and T-Shirts but not in words and deeds”.

Kerala Samajam Model School and Rajendra Vidyalaya were declared as joint second runners up and DAV, Bistupur as the first runners up.

Loyola School was declared the winner. Ananya Mukherjee of J.H. Tarapore School was judged the best speaker.

She was one of the extempore speakers. The topics for Extempore were like Scent of Rains across the Railway Tracks, A River inside my Mind, A Closed Window and Ink of Conscience in my Hand.

Earlier the programme started with the D.A.V. Anthem followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Participants of different Schools, Teachers, Principal Mrs. Pragya Singh and the Chairperson and Parnab Mukherjee, a versalite genius, famous for conducting Quiz and Debate all around the country.
