Jamshedpur, June 19 : Adhiraj Mitra of Loyola School bagged the top place in the two-day rapid rating chess selection tournament for Under 15 category hosted by Sheyn International School in collaboration with All Jharkhand Chess Association that concluded on Saturday evening at a glittering function in the school campus.
For the Jharkhand State School Open FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Selection Tournament-2022, other top 10 rankers included Kumar Sankalp (Tagore Academy), Pratyush Jaisawal (DAV NIT), Ishant Kumar (DAV Public School, Dhanbad), Naman Agarwal (Loyola School), Kumar Kaushik (Loyola School), Souryadipta Sarkar (DBMS English School), Aniket Verma (SJ DAV Public School), Archit Mittal (De Nobili School) and Abhinav Singh (De Nobili School).
In the Jharkhand State School Girls FIDE Rated Chess Selection Tournament 2022 the top 10 rankers include Aditi Raj (DPS Ranchi), Saara Jain (Carmel Junior College Jamshedpur), Navieka Jaiswal (MLZS Jamshedpur), Sunidhi Singh (JH Tarapore Jamshedpur), Kirti Kumari (Valley View Telco), Arpita Kumari (DBMS English School Jamshedpur), Kaushika Kumari (Church School, Jamshedpur), Pratibha Singh (DAV Alkusa, Dhanbad), Pragya Bharadwaj (JH Tarapore, Jamshedpur) and Vedika Sinha (Loreto Convent, Ranchi).
Amit Kumar Singh bagged the best performer award amongst the government School participants.
The chief guest of the occasion was Arava Rajkamal, Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan District. In his address, he lauded the efforts of Sheyn International School and All Jharkhand Chess Association in organizing the event and promoting the game of chess.
Avinash Singh, Chairman, Sheyn International School, stressed on the benefits of playing chess and spoke on how the school continuously strove to provide an inclusive and holistic educational environment to nurture future global citizens.
Manoj Kumar President, District Olympic Association briefed the gathering on the nuances of the game and how it prepares one for the future. Altogether 50 outstanding participants were awarded trophies and certificates for their commendable play while the remaining participants were given a participation certificate for putting in their best.
Other dignitaries included Sikander Mahato, secretary of District Olympic Association, NK Singh, former president Jharkhand Chess Association and NK Tiwary, Secretary, East Singhbhum District Chess Association.
Pushpa Bhalla, Principal, Sheyn International School, Keya Adak, Vice Principal and Simran Saggu, Headmistress, welcomed the guests and termed the tournament as an important event for the school.
Ajay Kumar, Joint Secretary, All Jharkhand Chess Association, proposed the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.
