Jamshedpur: Sunil Sao and 55 year old Markandey Sao were arrested by Adityapur police for alleged physical abuse of a minor girl. Markandey was referred to as Dadaji (grandfather) by the girl.
According to detailed reports, the minor girl used to stay as tenants at Markandey Sao�s house at Jai Prakash Uddyan under Adityapur PS. First, Markandey�s brother-in-law�s son Sunil Sao established physical contact with the minor girl. The girl was pregnant. Later he eloped with her mother.
After the incident, the minor started staying with Markandey who called her his grandchild. But, the girl being alone, Markandey too started establishing physical contact with her in spite of her protests. He forced the girl to take intoxicants and then used to physically abuse her. This practice went on for two years.
Getting an opportune moment, the girl escaped with her former lover and mother and reached the Adityapur police station. It may be mentioned here that on March 23 last, Markandey Sao had registered a complaint in the Adityapur police station against Sunil Sao accusing him of running away with a minor girl whom he called �grandchild.�
During investigation, the Adityapur police learned about the sexual harassment caused to the minor girl by Sunil Sao and Markandey Sao. The police, with the help of the Child Protection Committee arrested accused Sunil Sao and sent him to jail. The accused grandfather too has been arrested.
Speaking of the incident, Adityapur PS OC Vijay Singh informed that both accused were presently in police custody. The minor girl is being shifted to Nari Niketan with the assistance of Child Protection Committee. The police have already filed cases under POCSO Act and sexual abuse.
