Looters shoot two truck drivers in Jamshedpur

One of the victims succumbs, other critical

Jamshedpur, Aug 31: Unidentified criminals shot two truck drivers in Jemco under Telco police station area in the wee hours of Saturday. One of the victims died in his cabin while the other got critically injured, police said.

The injured driver was taken to MGM Hospital.

After shooting the drivers, the culprits decamped with the truck. A motorcyclist, who reportedly witnessed the incident, informed police.

On getting the tip-off about the incident, police reached the scene and sent the injured driver to hospital. Both drivers were brothers and native of UP.

Cops said the incident took place around 2 am when the two brothers were cooking in the truck. The truck was to carry cement from Jojobera cement plant. The culprits shot the drivers with the intentin of looting the truck, cops said.

An FIR was registered against unidentified persons in this connection. Incidents of loot and attack against truck drivers are not new in the city. Such incidents have taken place earlier in Telco, Birsanagar, Sidhgora, Sitaramdera, Sakchi, Sundernagar, Parsudih, Kadma, Bistupur, Parsudih, MGM, Jugsalai, Burmamines and Golmuri.
