Jamshedpur, Feb. 26: Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco on Monday said that Jubilee Park gates are closed from February 15 and March 7 as the festival of Holi coincides with that of Founder’s day celebration and the electricians and artisans from Chandannagore (Bengal) wanted to complete the work early so that they could be back in their homes before the festival of the colours. ‘Earlier the illumination work use to be completed by March 1 but this year the workers will complete the work by February end’, added Mathur.
Replying to a query, Mathur said that the widened Straight Mile road can easily accommodate the traffic due to the closure of Jubilee Park gate.
Earlier on Monday, morning walkers were stopped from entering the Jubilee Park after which they protested the move.
Later, a Jusco official said, We had informed the district administration about the decision on parks gates being closed between February 15 and March 7. This was necessary as some crucial electrical wirings and cables will be carried by large number of electricians and artisans from Chandannagore(Bengal) for illumination work to be carried out in view of Founders Day celebration and there are security and safety concerns not only for the artisans but also for commuters travelling on this road. Though we were allowing pedestrians and morning walkers but now the wires are laid and structures are put up so we will close the park for them too,
