Jamshedpur: Women from various localities, including Sakchi, Tinplate, Golmuri, Baridih and urban areas, have been flocking to the Jamshedpur Block office early in the morning to apply for the Maiya Samman Yojana. Many of them arrive as early as 6 am, eager to submit their applications. To accommodate the high number of applicants, the Block office has set up two counters to streamline the process.
Since the reappointment of Hemant Soren as Chief Minister for the second consecutive term, it has become a regular sight for women to be seen waiting in long queues at the Jamshedpur Block office for hours.
Lalita Devi, a resident of Parsudih, shared her experience, stating that when she arrived at 9 am, she found that women had already been queuing up since 6 am. Due to a server issue, applicants had to wait in line without food or water until 3 pm. The counters, typically open from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, were extended until 3:30 pm to accommodate the backlog. Despite the extended hours, many women were still unable to submit their applications and will need to return the following day to try again
