Lok Sabha polls in 4 phases in Jharkhand, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Giridih to vote on May 25

Ranchi, March 16: Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in four phases in Jharkhand.

Parliamentary elections will start from 13 May and will continue till 1 June 2024.

Voting will be held in the capital Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Giridih on May 25. This time elections are being conducted in 7 phases across the country.

The first phase of voting in Jharkhand will be held on May 13. Elections will be held on four seats on this day. Apart from Palamu Lok Sabha seat reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), elections will also be held on three other Lok Sabha seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes namely Singhbhum, Khunti and Lohardaga seats.

Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand will be held on May 20, in which elections will be held on three general seats. Voting will be held in Chatra, Koderma and Hazaribagh parliamentary constituencies.

The third phase of voting will take place on May 25. On this day people from from Lok Sabha constituencies will exercise their franchise. All these four seats (Giridih, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Jamshedpur) are general seats.

Voting will be held in the fourth and final phase for three Lok Sabha seats of Santal Pargana. Voting for the seventh phase of the country and fourth phase of Jharkhand will be held on June 1, 2024.

On this day, voting will be held in Rajmahal and Dumka, two seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Godda parliamentary seat is a general seat, voting on it will also be held on June 1 only. Counting of votes will take place on June 4 and election results will be declared on the same day.

Of the total 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, five are reserved for ST and one for SC. There are more than 2.54 crore voters in the state — 1.29 crore male, 1.24 crore female and 413 transgenders. Among them are 22 lakh first-time voters.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 11 of the 14 seats in the state, its ally AJSU Party bagged one, while the Congress and JMM secured one seat each.

The last Lok Sabha elections were also held in four phases in Jharkhand.
