Jharkhand Cabinet: School bags for 37 lakh students, sanitary pads at Anganbari kendras

Ranchi: Hours before the announcement of the Lok Sabha polls, Champai Soren led Jharkhand Cabinet on Saturday approved the proposal to provide school bags to over 37 lakh students studying in Classes 1-8 in government schools.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Champai Soren.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said the state government has approved Rs 57.06 crore for the project.

“All students between Class-1 and Class-8 would be provided school bags annually. The cost of bags will range from Rs 140 to Rs 160 each,” she said.

As many as 53 proposals were cleared during the cabinet meeting, including sanctioning Rs 50 crore for the Jharkhand Millet Mission.

“Under the mission, millet cultivation area will be increased to five lakh hectares from the current area of 40,000 hectares,” Dadel said.

The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 80 crore for the Kisan Samriddhi Yojana (2023-24)

Around 53 proposals have been approved by the cabinet. Apart from this, schemes worth more than thousand crores have been approved for two dozen roads in Santal Pargana region.

Apart from this, 91 Anganwadi centers will be opened in primitive tribal areas. JET Rules 2024 have been approved in the cabinet meeting.

Sanitary pads will be available in Anganwadi centres. Gas cylinders will be refilled every 3 months to provide hot nutrition to children in Anganwadi centres. Facility of four cylinders will be available in a year.

To increase the production of millet crop, the target of production on 50 lakh hectare land in 5 years, an amount of Rs 50 crore has been approved.

In Dhanbad, Judge Uttam Anand’s wife will get appointment on compassionate grounds. Approval was given to bring teachers of 836 unaided minority schools and 144 unaided secondary schools under the old pension scheme.

The state government will start Kisan Samriddhi Yojana, for this Rs 80 crore has been approved. Amendment was made regarding the age limit and term of office of Jharkhand State Election Commissioner.
