Local urban bodies meeting gives nod to several infrastructural projects

Jamshedpur : The stakeholders meeting of local urban bodies gave its nod to urban infrastructure projects at a marathon meeting after watching the detailed of the project presented by different private consultants at the district collectorate this evening.

City will get a state-of-the-art inter-state bus terminus, youth resource center and a wi-fi enabled modern air-conditioned library by the end of 2017.

“During the meeting the stakeholders have given their consent for a state-of-the- art inter-state bus terminus (ISBT), a transportnagar with all modern amenties, renovation of the Dinshaw Memorial Library and a resource center facility along with facility for waste treatment and landfill site for solid waste management. Some other projects like renovations of roads in Mango and housing for urban slum dwellers were not agreed by the stakeholders and the consultants has been asked to incorporate certain factors in their projects and submit it again,” said East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar after the meeting.

The inter-state bus terminus which would come up on 10-acre of land near alongside NH-33 near Vasundhara Apartment in Dimna, Mango will boast of a repair workshop, diesel refill station, retiring rooms for men and women passengers, separate ticket counters, bank, ATM, post office, food plaza, drinking water kiosks, toilets, cyber café ,shopping center and parking stands.

The Dinshaw Memorial Library, popularly known as D. M Library (established in 1939) and amongst the oldest in city, lying in a dilapidated condition near Straight Mile Road in Sakchi will see a major renovation with wi-fi and e-library facilities with digital database, air-conditioned study rooms and modern furniture. The library boasts of over 15,000 books mainly in English, Hindi and Bengali languages including those on various competitions but poor upkeep has damaged several books.

A multi-storied (G+3) resource center comprising two conference rooms, auditorium and basement parking will come up on nearly 1.5 acre of land near Kadma food plaza in Kadma which is lying abandoned after being freed from encroachment in March 2015 by the district administration.
