Seraikela, Oct 18: The two-day Literature Festival ‘Chhaap’ commenced today at the Adityapur Auto Cluster auditorium, attracting prominent litterateurs from across the nation and abroad. This festival, organized by the Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration, aims to foster literary interest and connect the youth and children with art, culture, and books while preserving the district’s rich tradition.
District Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla emphasized that the primary goal of the festival is to enhance interest in literature, particularly in enriching the Hindi language. The event features a diverse lineup of 42 subject experts, litterateurs, critics, and speakers representing 10 different languages, discussing a wide array of topics. Eighteen distinct subjects, including the importance of libraries in rural areas and the role of literature in strengthening democracy, will be explored over the two days.

Cultural evenings will also be held, featuring a solo play titled Swami Vivekananda Ka Punarpaath by renowned actor Akhilendra Mishra. Additionally, a kavi sammelan (poetry gathering) will showcase young writers like Niloptal Mrinal and Satya Vyas, who will discuss the significance of books for the younger generation. The festival will also address compositions in languages such as Santali, Ho, Oriya, Bengali, English, Urdu, Hindi, Maithili, and Bhojpuri, along with narratives from the film industry.
Shukla noted that the festival would also include voter awareness initiatives in light of the upcoming assembly elections. He highlighted concerns regarding low voter turnout in over 150 urban polling stations during the last Lok Sabha elections, underscoring the importance of engaging urban youth, workers, and labourers in the electoral process through this literary celebration.
