Jamshedpur: An intensive literacy campaign launched in the Dhusra village of Patamada block in East Singhbhum has started showing its impact.

Launched in the month of August this year, the campaign is registering success with a good number of villagers having learnt to write their names. The campaign was started on the initiative of Sanjay Kumar, deputy collector deputed at the camp office of Chief Minister.

In a bid to find out the effect of the campaign, the BDO of Patamada Sachidanand Mahato organized a camp in the village here on Friday and asked several senior citizens to make their signatures before him.

Several villagers successfully wrote their names in front of the BDO, thereby surprising everyone with their fast learning.

During the camp, local Sevika Sabita Singh and few other villagers helped local women to write their names. The village teachers have asked the students to teach their parents, guardians and neighbours to learn how to read and write.
