Jamshedpur, Sept 10: Police have arrested two men in connection with a late-night firing incident in the Olidih area, where a youth was shot during a liquor-fuelled brawl.
Officers seized a country-made pistol and a live cartridge during the operation.
The incident occurred on September 8 near Jagdamba Hotel when an argument broke out while drinking.
In the scuffle, 21-year-old Bunty Sharma sustained a gunshot injury and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Acting on the directives of the senior superintendent of police, a special team launched a swift crackdown.
On September 9, the accused—identified as Sagar Prasad and Hira Yadav—were intercepted near NH-33 and arrested.
Police later recovered the weapon used in the crime from Yadav’s house, based on Prasad’s confession.
Investigators revealed that Prasad has a criminal history and was earlier booked under the Arms Act. Police are still searching for other suspects linked to the case.
City SP Kumar Shivashish, addressing mediamen, said that no offender would be spared and assured strict legal action.
The raid team included officer-in-charge Nityanand Prasad, Parwan Sah, Ravishankar Kumar, Ravindra Pandey, and constables Rahul Kumar and Madhusudan Banra.
