It is known to all that Salman Khurshid is quite acquainted with ways to stay relevant in the news. For the past some time, he was dormant in the world of news and no one even asked him. He and his wife Louise Khurshid are time and again defeated in elections that is why he thought of comparing Hindutva with terrorist organizations such as ISIS and Boko Haram. This has once again helped him make headlines. This is what Salman Khurshid plans in his new book “Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Time”. He has been in the media since the release of this book, therefore, having achieved his desired result.
It would be better if he cursed Hinduism and Hindus too and even wrote one book after another against them. The media will certainly entertain him. Salman Khurshid, who got his education in English-medium Delhi Public School and St. Stephen’s College is now being harassed by the interests of Muslims in the form of a madrasa. At least at some point, he seems to have thought of his own. Under normal circumstances, no humble Muslim can ever enter his pompous bungalow in South Delhi. In his annual biryani and mango feast, he has more non-Muslim friends and fans. Salman Khurshid and Naseeruddin Shah should not even be asked questions based on what they are saying. Salman Khurshid, the grandson of former President of India Zakir Hussain, was asked by a news channel to justify the extent of the comparison of Hindutva and ISIS.
When faced with this question, he got furious and left the interview midway. After the controversy over his book, Salman Khurshid is constantly saying that he is ready for discussion but when the news channels approach him with questions, he seems to flee in fear. When he was questioned on comparing Hindutva with terrorist organizations, he left the interview midway. The best possible response is to not ask questions and unnecessarily entertain him. As long as he is allowed to speak, he will continue to speak and write. At least the country should know about him and his character.
Whether he is aware of it or not, I have seen his maternal grandfather and the then Governor of Bihar, Dr. Zakir Hussain, with my own eyes, sitting in front of the loft of Devraha Baba, chanting “Ram-Ram”. This incident dates back to February-March of 1960. I was sitting with my father in front of Devraha Baba’s loft. Then came the sound of a motorboat which was a strange thing in those days. As Governor Zakir Hussain got down from the motorboat and proceeded towards the scaffold, Devraha Baba said from the scaffold itself, “My dear child has come. Just sit there and chant Ram-Ram. I will first handle this crowd of devotees.”
The Governor sat on the sandy shores of the Ganges and started hailing Ram-Ram. When Baba disposed of the entire crowd by offering apples, oranges, bananas, he called the Governor. Baba gave him some solutions and his blessings. He then said, “Dear child, Damji is pleased with your service. Now, prepare to go to Delhi.” A few days later, news came that Dr. Zakir Hussain was going to become the Vice President. Salman Khurshid was told that between 2014 and 2018, ISIS killed more than 2000 people in 19 countries and then questioned on what basis has been comparing Hindutva with that terrorist organization?
Instead of answering this question, Salman Khurshid folded his hands and left the interview midway. This is the same Salman Khurshid who on February 10, 2012, while addressing a Congress rally in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, publicly claimed “When I showed the pictures of Batla House encounter to Sonia Gandhi, tears fell from her eyes and she advised me to talk to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Ji.”
It is worthy to note that Congress leader Digvijay Singh was also present among those who released Salman Khurshid’s book. Digvijay Singh has already said that when his party’s government comes to the Center, he will reinstate Article 370 of the Constitution. He said that the democratic procedure was not adopted to remove Article 370 from Kashmir. On the question of abrogation of Article 370, the whole country stands united. He, however, is promising to restore it. However, his dream will never come true. P Chidambaram was also present at the launch of Salman Khurshid’s book. There are a lot of leaders in Congress with this kind of pretentiousness and shallow attitude. They do politics by residing in their big government bungalows of Lutyens Delhi.
Some of them are wealthy well-earning lawyers. When they get a little bit of time from advocacy, they also start indulging in politics. They feel that they are doing tremendous service to the party by appearing in the debate of news channels. They neither agitate among the public on their questions nor ever go to jail. Ask Salman Khurshid if he ever raised his voice against the corruption spread in Waqf boards across the country. Ask him what his opinion was on the issue of triple talaq among Muslims.
Did he ever run any movement in favor of Pasmanda Muslims? The entire Muslim society of the country is classified into Ashraf, Ajlaf, and Arzal categories. Shaikhs, Syeds, Mughals, and Pathans are called Ashrafs. Ashraf means those who have converted from Afghan-Arab origin or the forward castes of Hindus. Ajlaf is a class of Muslims converted from professional castes of Hindus. A third class consists of those Muslims with whom the rest of the Muslims also do not interact.
They cannot even use mosques and public graveyards. Most of the clerics refuse to offer prayers for the funeral of Dalit Muslims. They are called Pasmanda Muslims. Indian Muslim society is also not free from the leprosy of caste, although there is no casteism in Islam. Did Salman Khurshid or Naseeruddin Shah ever launch a strong movement against the caste system among Muslims?
They only talk about rights but start sweating as soon as they are reminded of their duties. Salman Khurshid only represents the prosperous category of Muslims. I do not understand why some people get so upset over his regular anti-national and anti-social antics. They have to understand that India, which believes in Hindu and Hindutva, will continue to give all kinds of exemptions to Salman Khurshid which is why he keeps on whining like this.
