LD3 and Mechanical Maintenance win Tata Steel Inter-JDC Badminton Tournament

Jamshedpur, Aug 13: Tata Steel’s Sports Department organised Inter-JDC Badminton Tournament from August 8 to 11 at the Mohan Ahuja Badminton Training Centre, JRD Tata Sports Complex. Major Anil Kumar, Head Town Security graced the occasion as Chief Guest during the closing ceremony.

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 31 JDC Units of Tata Steel. More than 225 players showcased their talent in this year’s competition. This is the highest number of participation recorded in Badminton tournament so far.

In a display of exceptional skill and sportsmanship, LD3 team emerged as the winner in the Men’s category, whereas team LD1 bagged the runner’s up position. Combined team comprising Engineering & Project /Finance & Account/Corporate Audit /Design Cell emerged as the 2^nd runner’s up in this tournament.

In the Women’s category, showcasing exceptional skill and sportsmanship, Mechanical Maintenance team emerged as the winner, whereas team Sinter Plant bagged the runner’s up position. Coke Plant emerged as the 2^nd runner’s up in this tournament.

To ensure fair play and adherence to the rules, the tournament benefited from the expertise of renowned technical officials, including Vivek Sharma, Ashutosh Akash, Santu Kumar Sharma, Dhiren Besra, Kirtan Agarwal, Imran Khan and Taran who performed their roles admirably.

Tata Steel’s commitment to promote sports and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among its workforce was evident throughout the tournament. The event provided an excellent platform for employees to showcase their Chess skills and foster a healthy competitive spirit.
