Jamshedpur: Sacred Heart Convent girl equals national records in CISCE zonal athletics meet, wins gold

Jamshedpur: Amandeep Kaur, a student of Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur, has achieved a remarkable feat by equalling the CISCE School national record in high jump at the 25th CISCE Zonal Athletics Championship held at JRD Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on 11-12 August.

Amandeep’s prowess in the field of high jump has garnered attention as she successfully matched the national record during the event.

Amandeep Kaur’s exceptional skill propelled her towards equaling the national record of 1.62 meters height.

However, her aspirations for setting a new record were met with a slight setback as she brushed against the hurdle at the height of 1.64 meters, preventing her from creating a new benchmark.

Amandeep Kaur, a dedicated student of Sacred Heart Convent School, has already showcased her mettle by breaking the state record. Her journey of success has been nurtured under the expert guidance of sports mentor Sanjeev Kumar at JRD Sports Complex, where her continuous practice has been dedicated to honing her skills.

This is not the first instance of Amandeep’s excellence in the field. Previously, she established her prowess in the 33rd Eastern Regional Junior Athletics Championship held at Patliputra Stadium, Kankarbagh, Patna, where she secured the gold medal by setting a record of 1.58 meters in the women’s under-18 high jump event. This achievement holds significance as Amandeep surpassed the previous record of 1.55 meters, held since 2006 by Jamuna Tudu of East Singhbhum.

Amandeep Kaur’s extraordinary accomplishment in the high jump event has been acknowledged and applauded by both the school management and the sports department. Her dedication and determination stand as an inspiration for aspiring athletes and sports enthusiasts alike.
