Land scam case: After Soren, ED filed caveat in Supreme Court

Ranchi: After Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren moved the Supreme Court against the Enforcement Directorate for issuing him summons to appear before the agency in connection with a land scam case, now the ED has also moved the apex court against Soren for ignoring the summons.
According to reports, the ED has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court. However, the hearing date has not been fixed yet. In the petition filed by Soren in the Supreme Court, he has made the Ministry of Justice and Law and the Directorate of ED as respondents.
Hemant Soren was first summoned by the ED on August 14 in the land scam case. The Chief Minister did not appear on the ED’s first summons. He had described the summons as unconstitutional and motivated by malice and asked for withdrawal of the summons. The Chief Minister had also said that he would go to court against the ED. After this, the ED sent a second summons and asked them to appear on August 24. He did not appear on this date either. He wrote to the ED saying that he has gone to the Supreme Court. Now they will proceed according to the decision of the court.
Accusing the ED, Soren has said that the ED is working at the behest of the central government and is trying to destabilize the democratically elected government. In his reply to the ED, the Chief Minister has also said that he has already handed over the complete details of his income-expenditure and movable and immovable assets to the ED. Despite this, they have been summoned to defame the government.
