Gamharia: Land mafias are on a grabbing spree trying to lay their hands on government property. The Murkum village in Jaspur Panchayat under Gamharia Block seems to be their current target. The villagers put in a complaint about the activities of the land grabbers based on which the Gamharia Circle Officer directed the Circle Inspector Manoj Kumar to verify the authenticity of the complaint.
The inspection team lead by Manoj Kumar inspected the spots minutely and found the complaint to be true. The villagers reported that the government constructed drain leading from the Shiv Mandir to the irrigation land was being filled up for the construction of a road by the land mafias. They also stated that the drain connecting the Sitarampur Dam and the cremation ground were being targeted by the land grabbers. They have also targeted the land acquired by AIADA for the Sitarampur Dam by constructing pillars there.
CI Manoj Kumar said that the inspection report would soon be handed over to the CO after which action will be taken. A large number of villagers comprising men and women were present during the inspection.
