Labour Day observed at Loyola School Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, May 2: Martin Luther King Jr had observed, “No work is insignificant. All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” That in itself was a tribute to the celebration of International Labour Day.

On May 1, 2024, a grand celebration of Labour Day was organised at the Fasy Auditorium in Loyola School, Bistupur. Father Rector, KM Joseph, was the chief guest on this occasion. Father Victor Misquith, along with Father Principal Vinod Fernandes, Fr Gerald Ravi D’Souza, Administrator and Treasurer of Loyola School, Vice Principal Senior Section, Jayanthi Sheshadri, and Vice Principal Junior Section, Vineeta Ekka, attended the Labour Day celebrations.

A school student presented an informative speech about Labour Day. Another expressed his love and gratitude towards labour brothers and sisters through a poem. Expounding respect for the cooperation of the helping staff, a short play, ‘Shramik Samman’ was presented by the students of the school, in which they highlighted the importance of respecting the efforts the labourers. Students presented an attractive dance on ‘We are the labourers’ and expressed admiration and appreciation for the dedication and hard work of their community.

On behalf of the management of the school, Father Rector and Father Principal honoured the school’s support staff and extended their gratitude to them with gifts. Students of standard 6 conveyed their love by preparing handmade flowers and greeting cards for the Didis and Bhaiyas. During the event, James Laguri (Assistant, Knowledge Centre) shared his emotional memories from the school on behalf of his generous staff colleagues. Their gratitude towards the Loyola management was sincerely voiced and felt.

 

Father Rector, with his blessings, provided guidance to both the labour brothers, sisters and the students, educating them about the importance of demonstrating sensitivity and compassion towards the people who help us live a better and easier life.

The school Principal, Father Vinod Fernandes, extended the message of gratitude and offered the vote of thanks.
