KU organizes NAAC workshop for teachers

Chaibasa, Dec. 12: Kolhan University organized a one- day workshop on RUSA, NAAC and AISHA at the Kolhan University Senate Hall on Friday for the teachers of the colleges and university.

The workshop was inaugurated by vice-chancellor Dr R P P Singh by lighting the traditional lamp. Addressing the college and university teachers on the occasion, Dr Singh said that experts in Rastriya Uchhattar Shishka Abhiyan (RUSA) will impart valuable information to utilize the financial assistance for the growth of higher education in the colleges under the university.

According to the vice-chancellor, RUSA is based on excess, excellent and equity and it aims to improve equity in higher education for students from the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, minority communities, women and economically backward classes.

In order to receive the financial benefits from RUSA one must know the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) norms and proper documentation. Since many colleges are not aware of the formalities regarding NAAC, colleges and academic institutions in the region are unable to reap the benefits offered by it, especially the funds.

He added that much of the educational fund for higher institution is financed by RUSA. The vice-chancellor also expressed concern that despite all these available opportunities, the teaching staff whether in the university and or affiliated college do not give proper attention and, as a result, the benefits of this central government scheme are lost.

Therefore, Dr Singh appealed to the teachers to learn the formalities concerning the NAAC in detail from the experts during the workshop at the Jamshedpur Women College on December 12.

Three experts Shabhu Saran, Nitesh Roy and Sumit Kumar imparted training in the workshop. A large number of teachers and lecturers from different colleges of West Singhbhum took part in the workshop.
