Jamshedpur, Sept 19: Jubilation galore in Kolhan University here on Saturday as it elected maiden Students Union under official patronage.
Amid enthusiasm Kolhan University (KU) Students Union Election were declared on Saturday evening. Baljeet Mahto was elected the President of Union uncontested.
Seema Rani Hembram received a total of 128 votes and was elected Vice-President of the Union. Kartik Mahto was made the Secretary, Meena Kumari was elected Joint Secretary Vandana Roy was made the Deputy Secretary while Saroj Kumar Pradhan was the University Representative.
The day of counting saw leaders of ABVP and NSUI eagerly waiting for the results to be announced. At the Jamshedpur Co-operative Law College, Jamshedpur- Prakash Kumar was elected the President, Mahesh Das-Vice-President, Anurag Pandey-Secretary, Neha Sharma-Joint Secretary, Kirandeep Singh-Deputy Secretary, Sushil Tiwari-University Representative.
At Jamshedpur Co-operative College, Jamshedpur which saw ruckus Bhimsen Murmu was elected the President with 213 votes, Baidyanath Hansda-Vice-President with 209 votes, Chandra Bhushan Kumar-Secretary with 218 votes, Abhishek Kumar- Joint Secretary with 287 votes, Ankit Kumar – Deputy Secretary with 289 votes and Akhilesh Kumar Singh-University Representative with 245 votes. In G.C. Jain Commerce College, Chaibasa- Gopal Laguri was elected the President with 205 votes, Lilan Pingua-Vice-President with 155 votes, Pradeep Paul-Secretary with 229 votes, Vishnu Kumar Jha-Joint Secretary with 232.
Votes, Karishma Kumari – Deputy Secretary with 246 votes and Rohit Das was made the University Representative uncontested. At Jamshedpur Women�s College, Jamshedpur- Paramjeet Kaur was made the President Uncontested, Avinash Kour-Vice-President with 640 votes, Alpriya Burnwal- Secretary uncontested, Amrita Kumari- Joint Secretary with 1046 votes while Aprajita Arya was made University Representative with 851 votes.
At Jamshedpur Workers� College, Jamshedpur- Hemant Pathak was made the President with 355 votes, Bipan Tantubai- Vice-President-305 votes, Ganesh Gorai- Secretary with 274 votes while Jitendra Kumar was made the University Representative with 277 votes.
At LBSM College, Jamshedpur- Nhirmal Kisku was made the President with 554 votes, Payo Mardi- Vice-President with 552 votes, Ajay Deogam-Secretary with 511 votes, Sushila Mardi-Joint Secretary with 534 votes, Gopal Hansda- Deputy Secretary with 550 votes while Sagen Besra was made the University Representative with 538 votes. In 2007, students� elections were held in the college here, then part of the Ranchi University.
Kolhan University runs 25 colleges that include 14 constituent and eight affiliated colleges and two minority colleges. The Jamshedpur Woman�s College is the lone autonomous college of the university.
